Hanger Installation/Alignment
Hanger Alignment for Round, Rear Dropouts
BoBI Dropout Hanger
General Information
- Use both the adhesive and screw for best results
- The dropout must be clean, dry, and bare metal prior to installation
- Install the screw through the adhesive; it keeps the screw from loosening
- DO NOT overtighten the screw or use power tools to install; it is small and can be damaged from excess torque
- The skewer holds the hanger in place, the only time the adhesive and screw hold the hanger is when the skewer is out
- When the skewer is out, take care not to impact the derailleur or hanger
- Always shift to the smallest rear cog before removing the wheel
Steps:
1. Clean the dropout and hanger with a solvent that leaves no residue, such as alcohol, lacquer thinner, acetone or fingernail polish remover
- Hanger pocket must be free from paint and coatings
2. Peel the white protective layer from the adhesive and apply to the dropout
3. Peel the red protective layer from the adhesive
- Use a knife point or similar tool to carefully separate from the adhesive
- The adhesive is clear and not easy to see; this may take a few tries
4. Press the hanger firmly against the adhesive
- Install the 2 mm screw
- Tighten the skewer to clamp the hanger, adhesive, and dropout together. For best results, do this at a temperature of at least 70° and leave the skewer clamped for a few hours
-
In most cases, grabbing the hanger and pulling firmly will break the adhesive bond
-
If this does not work, install the skewer almost all the way and rap the end of the skewer with a block of wood or soft hammer
